Please read below for more information about me---and please, contact me for any reason (questions, interview, other).
First and foremost, I love people. I love people, I love helping people, and I love learning about people and hearing their stories. I value all forms and modes of art, creating, and self-expression - but never at the expense of another. Whatever the situation, I believe strongly in respect, open dialogue, and working together.
I am a quick learner and a hard worker. I am friendly, honest, energetic, encouraging, and confident. I am professional and have high work eithics and standards. To compliment these traits, I am understanding and realistic. I care, both about the people I work with and the job I have to get done. I know the best ways to get a task accomplished are to act decisively, make changes if needed, and treat those with whom I work with respect. I understand from my own experiences and from interacting with others that when a person knows I am looking out for them -- whether as a peer or a manger -- s/he does the same for me and is more willing to do their best and to stick through the difficult moments that may arise. I also value customers: their needs and wants, feelings, experiences, etc. -- and, of course, their business. I realize that our customers make a choice to come to us, and it is up to us to treat them respectfully and as intelligent human beings.
I embrace challenges and love to trouble-shoot, rely on my resources, and solve problems. I always find a way to help out and to make events run more efficiently. However, I understand that my idea is not always the only idea and that not everyone appreciates 'help'. Therefore, I am sensitive to the needs of my team--from project directors to subordinates--and to what is most beneficial to our task, and address the matter accordingly. I also enjoy trying new things and am eager to learn from others.
I believe in allowing autonomy and independence - I need it myself and not only provide it, but expect it from those with whom I work - yet I just as firmly believe in collaboration. I have solid people skills and am a strong communicator. I have an extensive amount of promotions, counseling/teaching, customer service, and other 'people' experience. As a youth director this past year, I had to brainstorm, plan, arrange, co-ordinate, advertise, manage, and staff events appropriate for and catered to more than one age group, ranging from 3rd grade up to young adults and young couples. I have minimal acting, dance, and music / singing experience, having most recently sung as part of an all-female quartet at an engagement brunch with nearly 200 people in attendence.
I am at once silly and serious, understanding, compassionate, trustworthy, and genuine. I am excited to try new things and am looking to expand my horizons creatively while staying within my values. I am most especially interested in basic print and other basic modeling, being an extra, possibly being in an independent film, being a mystery shopper (I am very thorough, as you may have guessed, and would provide a detailed critique in regards to customer service, product / store lay-out, etc.!), and networking more within the business.
A few more tidbits:
- I love languages, etemology, and immitating accents & styles of speech. I speak moderate Hebrew & pick up on language / understanding quickly.
- I worked as a paraprofessional counselor and hotline specialist for a hotline that covered suicide, PPD, homelessness, youth, AIDS, and other situations.
- I love animals and being outdoors. I would love to own a German Sheperd, a black Lab, and / or a Golden Retriever. I would love a snake if I could get one that ate vegetarian - I am not too excited to feed mice, even if they are dead, to a snake. Still, I like holding snakes.
- I was in a Romanian dance troupe and an Israeli dance troupe. I pick up on dance, at least folk dance and rhythmic movement, quickly.
- The biggest pet(s) we ever had were turtles. The shell of one was just bigger than a quarter when we first got him. I now have a hermit crab I got in Ocean City, MD 2 years ago.
- I have a pencil point in my foot. That was not a pleasant experience. Please do not leave sharp pencils lying on the floor - it is not a good time.
- My mother left me in a museum in London on a school trip and never once was worried... (If you knew my mother, you'd understand how astronomically unusual this is.)
- I have been to Israel 4 times: 1)on an outdoor adventure program 2)on a learning / leadership program 3)on a one-way ticket (ended up staying for two months!) 4)as a student leader for a college group. I have friends there still that I miss very much. I look forward to going back there.
- I was a Kangaroo Kid.
- My sister and I sang on a children's album when we were 8 and 10, respectively.
Thank you very much for your time! I appreciate this opportunity and look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you very much! Have a wonderful day.
Sincerely,
Rachael A. Freedman
