About me
I was born in London and my parents are Jamaican. I'm 39 years old now, and look younger judging from the shocked reaction I get when people assume I'm 10 years younger.I became interested in acting more than 10 years ago, and after reading a book about numerology which I'd never heard of up until that point. However, although I'm not a numerologist, I do have to say that the book opened my eyes to the life I was born to live.
Acting experience:
I attended local acting classes held by a lovely couple who trained people for drama school entry auditions, and LAMDA examinations of which I did two. Additional acting classes include part-time ones at The City Lit, and another local acting workshop who perform plays every Christmas/New Year to raise money.
I currently work as a Supporting Artiste although I do know the difference between being an SA and an actor.
Dancing experience:
None as yet although I'm a quick learner, because I used to go to jazz dance and ballet classes.
Singing experience:
Although I can sing I haven't had the pleasure of using my vocal skills except for when singing a line or two for a film.
Modelling experience:
None as yet unless you're looking for a curvy, ordinary looking black woman
Television experience:
I've gained this experience through being a Supporting Artiste, and have been in commercials, The Bill, Holby City/Blue, Love Soup amongst others.
Specific skills:
I can play the recorder, knit, type (typewriter, computer, mac, laptop), and play volleyball.
I can also speak in West Indian and General American accents.
Additional skills:
My office experience has been as a Secretary/PA, so the additional skills learnt are typing to accuracy and/or speed, being computer literate, prioritising work and adaptability. Working part-time in the food retail industry has included serving customers on the till and from behind the counter, for example, as Delicatessen/Sales Assistant at Sainsburys.
Interesting past experiences:
I worked on Silent Witness last summer, and next door to the location was where they were building the batmobile.
Everyone was excited about that, and I remember wishing that I could be on the film just to experience working on a blockbuster before I die. This wasn't for an ego trip I have to add. Well, two weeks later I got a call from the Casting Collective asking if I'd like to work on it for two weeks as an American police officer after being picked out by the 3rd AD (thank you Michael) who remembered me from Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire.
My interests:
Apart from acting, reading autobiographies, listening to music from rap to pop, clubbing, eating out, films whether at home or in the cinema
Additional information:
Through being registered with Casting Collective, I've acted as a crowd member, shopper, female wizard, clubber, theatre audience member, hospital patient for a commercial, films and TV programmes
